The Institute for Emergency Medicine of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is the legal successor of the former Emergency Medical Services Institution Rijeka (UHMP).
On June 26, 2009, the Management Board of UHMP Rijeka adopted the Decision on changing the name and activity of UHMP Rijeka, and as a founder, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County gave its consent on 15 July 2009. On March 11, 2011, the Institute for Emergency Medicine of PGZ was registered in the Court Register of the Commercial Court in Rijeka, and began its work on November 1, 2011, based on the Decision of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The Institute for Emergency Medicine of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is an operational health institution in the field of outpatient emergency medicine, which ensures the provision of outpatient emergency medical care in the area of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. This includes the implementation of emergency health care measures for a terminally ill or injured person at the scene of an accident, ensuring adequate emergency transportation of such person to an appropriate health care facility, and providing health care during transportation.
The Institute of Emergency Medicine of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has a total of 10 outlets. The headquarters of the Institute are in Rijeka, Franje Čandeka 6 / A, where the Administration and the Medical Reporting Unit are located.
