Dr. Samir Tiapa: Dr. Tiapa is an Endodontist at Advance Dental Costa Rica. He graduated from the Universidad Central of Venezuela as a general dentist in 2006 and completed his post-graduate studies in Endodontics at the same university during a 2-year residency, obtaining the title of specialist in 2010. Dr. Tiapa is recognized as a specialist not only by the dental organizations of his country but is also accredited as a specialist in Endodontics by the College of Surgeons dentists of Costa Rica. He performs endodontics in Advance Dental with state-of-the-art equipment allowing more precise treatments in the control of pain and infection of dental origin.

Dr. Rossie Brender: Dr. Brender is a Periodontist at Advance Dental Costa Rica. After completing her Doctor in Dental Science degree, Dr. Brender trained for other 3 years in a residency program at Northwestern University Dental School, Chicago, Illinois, where she received her Certificate as a Specialist in Periodontics, as well as her Master of Science degree. With 18 years of experience in teaching and private practice restricted to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal diseases, Dr. Brender is also a member of the Commission for the National Plan on Oral Health at the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Costa Rica and an International Member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP).

Detailed Schedule: When international patients schedule an appointment, they receive a detailed schedule specifying when they need to come to the clinic for appointments and when they have days off. The days off are usually due to the lab requiring time to work on different restorations or because the clinic might suggest a rest day in between procedures.

Combining Vacation and Treatment: Patients are able to plan ahead for activities to enjoy on their days off. Some may visit rainforests, others take a two-day trip to beaches, volcanoes, and hot springs. This way, patients can enjoy everything Costa Rica has to offer while getting the dental treatment they need.

Follow-Up Care: Advance Dental Costa Rica offers international patients the possibility of taking care of slight adjustments at a local clinic within their local area. They belong to a network of US clinics, where they can refer their patients and they will gladly look after the work done in Costa Rica. However, all cases are different and prior to visiting any local dental office for follow-up, they strongly suggest getting in touch with their Patient Coordinator first.

Getting a Dental Treatment Plan: At the preliminary stage, the clinic needs as much information as possible from the patient to be able to come up with an estimate. If the patient has already visited a local dentist and has any of the following: x-rays, pictures, treatment plan and/or any other information, they are asked to share it with the clinic. The clinic also asks for information during the initial phone call, following American standards that verify the patient’s safety and well-being.
