Cancer Treatment With IS-med Treatment in Israel

For those who are looking for cancer treatment abroad or considering going to Israel for oncology, we have asked a couple of questions to Ilana Shafransky who is representing IS-med Treatment in Israel.

Who is IS-med Treatment in Israel?

Hello everyone, I want to tell you about our small IS-med company, which organizes treatment in Israeli clinics. We have been working in the field of medical tourism since 2009 and during this time have helped a large number of patients from abroad to undergo a survey and begin treatment in Israel. Medical care is a huge bureaucratic mechanism and the patient in it is treated not as a customer, but as a consumer.
No one cares about his time spent, thrown on unnecessary or repeated examinations and advice money, his nerves. Our task is to reduce the diagnostic process to the minimum required, to bring the patient to a highly specialized doctor for his specific problem, to perform all the necessary bureaucratic work, and to remove all organizational issues from the patient and his family.
In our company, we have 2 consulting doctors whose task is to review medical documents and create a personalized examination program. They communicate with the attending physician and exchange medical information before the patient's visit, while he is in Israel, and after the patient returns home. Many of our clients come to repeat courses of treatment and also recommend us to their friends and relatives. Thus, we have been working for more than 8 years in the field of medical tourism, carrying out direct communication between the patient and the best doctor for him through private and public clinics.

What are cancer treatment procedures people usually do in Israel?

With regard to treatment most often come to us for surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Many remain in rehabilitation in a specialized center.

From what countries do people usually come for treatment to you?

The desire to come to Israel for treatment is based on the backwardness of the local health system and the lack of both a material and technical base, medicines, and the lack of highly skilled specialists in many diseases.

Why Cancer Treatment in Israel?

Israel is known as one of the best countries in the world for the treatment of cancer. It uses the latest approaches - not only effective but also spared. In the arsenal of Israeli physicians, such methods as radiotherapy, hyperthermia, immune and hormone therapy, focused ultrasound, and donor bone marrow transplantation.
In Israel, the training of doctors lasts about 10 years - only after that, the young doctor gets the right to work in one of the Israeli hospitals. Almost all doctors additionally undergo internships in the best medical centers in Europe and the US - and this is not a matter of choice, but an obligatory part of the training.
The technical equipment of Israeli hospitals is impressive - the most modern diagnostic equipment is installed here, and during surgical operations, doctors use computerized systems. So, during the gastroenterological, nephrological, urological, and other operations, the robotic surgical system Da Vinci Surgical System is used. It is worth mentioning the spinal surgeon-surgeon Spine Assist [3], created at the Haifa Institute of Technology in Israel. The system allows you to significantly improve the accuracy of orthopedic operations, reduce traumatism, and shorten the time of rehabilitation. Today, almost all surgical interventions in Israeli clinics are carried out using high-tech imaging systems - this avoids damage to healthy tissues and virtually eliminates the possibility of error.
The Ministry of Health of Israel in every way stimulates and finances the development of medicine in the country, including supporting the development of new methods of treatment.

How should I prepare before going for cancer treatment in Israel?

As a rule, our patients with any diagnosis primarily undergo a full follow-up.
In the case of confirmed oncology,  blood tests with oncomarkers, PET CT, and consultation with a narrowly specialized specialist. Each patient for us is unique and his medical program is handled by a consultation of specialists.

What happens if treatment goes wrong?

First of all, in Israel, every patient who has to undergo surgery or anesthesia for another reason has insurance from the hospital. In case of complications after the operation, caused by the surgeon's fault, the hospital staff will do everything possible, right up to the second operation, to remove the damage.
Before the operation, the patient agrees that in the event of complications with health, the cost of surgery and further hospitalization can be increased. However, our IS-med team is in close contact with the medical team and tries to avoid unnecessary days of hospitalization or unnecessary tests or consultations. We are always on the side of our patients and are not bound by obligations to one of the hospitals - we work with all clinics, and in their interests, to provide our patients with better services and better prices.
We will always protect only the interest of our patients and will do our best to get the best medical care.

I want to tell you about one mandatory procedure for cancer patients: PET CT.  All our patients with a confirmed diagnosis undergo such a survey. In Israel, there are huge queues for this procedure, but our foreign patients go through it in the first days after their arrival, as we perform the necessary urgent examinations in one of the private clinics, it costs a little more than the state one, but greatly shortens waiting time. The transcript of the survey is ready within 3 working days, during which time we receive the results of blood tests and revision of the biopsy, and with full information, we go to the oncologist's consultation. This procedure eliminates the need for primary consultation with an oncologist, as we familiarize him in absentia with the patient's medical history.

I would also like to talk about the unique technology of the personal selection of chemotherapy. Modern technologies allow each oncological patient to receive a personal cancer treatment protocol with an accurate prognosis from such therapy. Thanks to modern genomic tests, the oncologist sees a transcript of the test with treatment options for a specific patient and a prognosis from such therapy that allows not only to avoid unnecessary courses of radiation or chemotherapy, but sometimes a computer program tells the oncologist about the most effective treatment protocol for the patient or even on the basis of a genomic test allows you to give up chemotherapy in favor of vigilant observation or radiation therapy.
We are ready to help you in any country of the world, provide you with a full-time or correspondence consultation with an Israeli doctor, and are ready to consider your medical documents for free.
Recovery!
