Anti Aging
Anti-Aging Treatment
Although inevitable and a natural process, aging is unpleasant to say the least. Modern medicine has invested a lot of efforts in delaying the effects of aging, among them:
Antioxidant-rich diets:
The first thing to remember is that whatever you eat will impact the aging signs of your body as much as the products you use for your skin. If you want to maintain and preserve your young looks, the most organic way is to start as soon as possible eating healthy foods, rich in antioxidants, thus avoiding unnecessary chemicals. The highest amount of antioxidants is contained in fruits and vegetables.
Antioxidant-rich fruits: prunes, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raisins, raspberries, oranges, cherries, red grapes, etc.
Antioxidant-rich vegetables: red pepper, carrots, tomatoes, eggplant, onions, corn, broccoli, etc.
Don’t forget the leafy greens (we know your mom used to tell you to eat your salad)!
It is recommended to eat five to nine different kinds of fruits and vegetables daily for visible signs.
Anti-aging supplements:
Coenzyme Q10 is a component found in every cell of the human body and it is an important source of energy used for cell growth and maintenance, it also has an antioxidant effect. It is found in small amounts in a vast variety of foods and in dietary supplements.
Acetyl-L-carnitine. Naturally produced by our body’s amino-acid, is an important energy source that helps oxidize and transport fatty acid in the cells. It is used for a variety of aged related disorders such as memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, late-life depression, alcoholism problems, symptoms of “male menopause” (due to decreasing amount of testosterone levels) and others.
Aspirin is an important element for heart attacks or stroke prevention. Aspirin taken daily and in small amounts, as prescribed by the physician, after the age of 45, prevents the platelets from clotting the blood vessels.
Omega-3 supplements. Some studies claim that omega-3 is the best supplement that can slow down the aging process. It has positive effects on memory and brain function. One can intake omega-3 by eating fatty fish at least 2 times a week or omega-3 supplements.
"Anti-aging" medication:
DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) or “nature’s aging antidote” is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands that, after chemical changes in human body, converts into testosterone and estrogen. After the age of 30, the body slows the production of this hormone and therefore the production of female and male hormones. The supplements containing DHEA have been known to have general “anti-aging effects”, although some studies say that these were minimal and inconsistent.
Testosterone (“male” steroid hormone) is the hormonal impulse to sex drive in both men and female, and also is known to have effects on bone and muscle strength.
Estrogen and Progesterone (“female” steroid hormones) decline consistently with age, mostly due to menopause. These hormones have a very important role in bone density, sexual and mental function in females.
IMPORTANT! Hormone-containing medication must be prescribed by your physician.
Anti-aging Therapy:
Microdermabrasion – using a metal wand, it exfoliates and removes “dead skin cells”, preparing your skin for other treatments, such as chemical peel and/or application of skin-care products.
Chemical peel – using a chemical solution, the first layers of the skin are peeled off, leaving smoother and clearer under-layer. The natural process of skin regeneration is slowed down with age, thus skin loses elasticity and wrinkles deepen. Chemical peel is a synthetic option for skin regeneration.
Laser resurfacing –directing short, concentrated pulsating beams of light, the treatment aims to restore the skin’s collagen and elastin layer, removing hyper-pigmentations and broken blood vessels.
Cosmetic fillers - injecting cosmetic products that fill-in little areas that lost the naturally-produced collagen, restoring the lost volume and lifting selected areas.
Botox injections - injecting purified botulinum toxins into face muscles, blocking face muscles from contracting, and reducing or temporary eliminating wrinkles.
