Checking your Temperature during COVID-19

One of the most common symptoms of the new coronavirus is a fever. The normal adult human body temperature varies from 36.5–37.5 °C (97.7–99.5 °F). A reading from 38 °C or 100.4 °F is considered a fever and if it is above 39.4°C or 103 °F then it is a high fever and can be a sign of a serious infection that needs immediate medical assistance. Usually, our normal body temperature varies during the day so we tend to have lower temperatures in the mornings and higher in the evenings. This is why it is important to check it multiple times a day so you can have a more precise reading and see if your temperature rises.

How to Check for a Fever

Self-isolation from People in Your Household

Mild cases of infection with COVID-19 can be treated at home so if you live in a household with other people and you notice symptoms or you suspect yourself an infection, self-isolate yourself from them and do not leave the house. Communicate with them about your suspicion so they will be conscious about keeping their distance. Choose a specific room you will stay in alone and if you can a specific bathroom. If not, make a schedule for using common areas of your home so you will not contact each other. Clean and disinfect the space after you use it.
