What medical treatments are available abroad?
Services Medical ServicesHi community!
I know that basic medical services people are seeking abroad are: dental / dentistry and cosmetic / plastic surgeries. I think that most of the medical services are very specific to a patient and to previous treatments he got and might be very problematic to 'out-source' abroad. Also I think, the more complicated the medical procedure is, the more risky it is to do it abroad, either because of communications issues or because of the cultural differences.
I'm curious, maybe there's someone very exprienced in the forum - what is the list of medical services that is perfectly fine to seek abroad, just like dental or plastic surgeries?
Also, what are the risks associated with those, if there are any?
Thanks!

Great question! You’re right dental and cosmetic surgeries are the most common, but many patients also travel abroad for weight loss surgery, orthopedic procedures, IVF, eye surgeries, and stem cell treatments.
The main reasons are lower costs, faster scheduling, and access to internationally accredited hospitals. Risks can include post-op follow-up and communication, so it’s important to choose certified clinics and experienced doctors.
Platforms like PlacidWay help patients from the U.S., Canada, and Australia find trusted clinics, compare treatments, and read real patient reviews, making the process safer and easier.
To find out about available treatments you can:
1. Visit the medical packages page in the main menu and see what clinics offer around the world, you also can narrow down by treatment and country
2. Also, you can go to medical in main menu and filter by the treatment you're interested in any country and see what treatments are offered by clinics.
3. Also, you can visit countries in the article section and read our articles on medical tourism in top countries.
