I haven't experienced surgery abroad personally but a couple of procedures in countries on different continents did.
Depending on where you go!
I myself had to have had emergency trips home because the hospital I was in did not treat me properly and I had to fly or die…. It’s not safe and is not easy for a simple person risking all my life and sometimes savings… But then there are good things happening too like my friend in his home country he could not diagnose or treat his cancer and probably would end up dead I guess for thought I shudder… In his words, he took months to research and learn where he actually can go and have a better chance of fighting cancer and he did! I mean he did it! Also, one of my relatives was treated for cancer until she was dying from treatment or cancer you can’t see the difference but when she went to another country they said she has no cancer and it took years for her to recover from misdiagnosis and unnecessary treatment… It is risky and the price is life or health… This is why I can’t stress enough how much vigilance you need to put in researching because in my experience I went in the best hospital in the capital (Malaysia) and I was surprised to have been so unprofessionally treated that cost me extra money and 5–6 months to recover which could be handled right and treated in a week and all that was because of the wrong diagnosis. I guess doctors are humans and some of them suck at what they do… Or I was just not lucky …
