Adapt Your Medical Institution to a Pandemic New Norm?

6 months and the pandemic is not finished yet when is going to be over when we can get to normal again?
As the pandemic develops it is clear that coming back to normal is not an option anymore, we will have to learn to work in the new reality of Pandemic and virus threat and consequences.

What is the New Norm, What Do We Know?

In any new problem there is always an opportunity, and adapting is the key to succsesufull transition. We can speculate more about how this pandemic will affect our society and the way people live their lives, society, business, and government.
We know for sure that past pandemics shaped our society in a powerful way, and for sure in the future, we will look back and acknowledge the benefits, yet the price is steep for these improvements, and what can we do now to ease the pressure?

Let’s start with the facts:

  1. Medical Tourism at the Moment is at standstill and it will change for sure in the future.
  2. People’s need for medical help did not disappear.
  3. Traveling will not look the same, it will be more local, closer to home.
  4. People rely more on delivery services and online to reach out.
  5. The global economy is suffering from the downhill slope just at it’s beginning.
  6. Air travel is hit hard and cheap flights might not recover soon.
  7. Only these facts look like will give a shaping effect on tour security and economy, and what we can do to adapt to these changes.

There are no universal recipes, there is a big talk that many countries open first for medical tourists, yet that is not going to help resume activities as it was.

What You Can Do Now?

  1. Look closer to home -  what are the market gaps in medical services who need your medical support closer to home? This might be in your home country or neighboring countries, from where people can drive to your medical institution.
  2. Lean Up, Adapt - you will need to revise and get read of processes, services, and team members that are not essential to your activities, yes it is painful but necessary to help you survive.
    1. Focus on what's important - while you lean up ask the question - will that help me survive, will it not hinder the work process.
    2. Look for new opportunities - some services will diminish in demand, but there are others that will grow, watch, and see how you can switch on a growth path.
    3. Be ready for changes - as the market changes fastly you will need to keep an eye on the evolution and prepare for the changes before they come.
  3. Use the internet as a tool:
    1. Enable Quote Functionality - get patient requests directly on MedicalTourism.Review platform. This feature is free for you to use during this summer, you can enable it in your dashboard (top right user menu).
    2. Improve your visibility - daily billions of searches are done people related to treatment and health information, think of ways how you can reach these people by giving them the information they are looking for.
    3. Connect with your patients online - think on what steps you can start your treatment process online with patients in your country or from abroad, make the channels to reach you available for patients looking for your support.
    4. Collect feedback - from your patients to boost your credibility and trust.
    5. Make your treatment information available - help patients find your treatment information easier and faster by publishing your services and treatment packages.
